Fabio Variola is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ottawa. He is a cross-appointed member in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (Faculty of Medicine) and he is an Affiliate Investigator at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). In addition, he is currently the Associate Director of the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Biomedical Engineering.

His research focuses on the development of micro- and nano-structured interfaces to control cellular response for applications in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
